Best Tire Brands of the Year 2023 Edition

undefined

When buying any new product, you try to find the best option available. With more complex items, like tires, the “best” option isn’t always so clear. The best for me and my situation may not be the best for you.

So how do you evaluate what makes a tire the best? Do you value low road noise? Ride comfort? Lots of options? High tread durability? Winter weather performance? Price?

In compiling this list of the top tire brands of 2023, we considered those factors plus what trusted sources such as Consumer Reports cite as brands with tires that offer higher-than-average overall quality.

How to Find the Best Tires For Your Ride

Tire Agent carries over 80 brands of tires. From any page on our site, select “Shop,” and then enter your vehicle make, model, year and trim level. Our online tool will match you with the best aftermarket tires for your vehicle. You can sort from most expensive tire brands to least; you can also filter by tread type, warranty and more.

All the listed brands can be purchased online with Tire Agent, where shipping is always fast and free. If you like what you see from a particular brand that we’ve mentioned, you can filter your search to tires from that particular brand.

In no particular order, here are some of the best tire brands going into 2023:

Bridgestone

The Japanese tire manufacturer Bridgestone has been a well-known name in the tire industry since 1931. As a worldwide manufacturer of tires for passenger cars, trucks, motorcycles, aircraft, and more, you can be assured that they have an option for your vehicle. Bridgestone has around 130 manufacturing plants worldwide and sells in 150 countries. This makes them the largest tire manufacturer in the world.

Their tires have several lines depending on the goals and make of your vehicle. For example, their Potenza line of summer tires is meant for sports cars and performance vehicles. While their Turanza line of touring all-season tires offers low road noise so your vehicle has a smooth, comfortable ride. Bridgestone also offers tires that perform exceptionally well in poor weather conditions like rain and snow.

One of Bridgestone’s few downsides may be its large, overwhelming array of products! If you want options, Bridgestone delivers. For this reason, we recommend using Tire Agent’s vehicle matching tool to find Bridgestone tires that are verified to work with your vehicle.

Goodyear

If you’re from the continental United States, Goodyear Tire & Rubber is simply a part of American culture. Whether it’s their excellent tires, iconic blimp, or even their partnership with the Cleveland Cavaliers, you’ve probably heard of Goodyear. Goodyear was founded in 1898 by Frank Seiberling in Akron, Ohio, manufacturing bicycle and carriage tires. Today, Goodyear manufactures tires for everything from passenger vehicles to heavy off-road machinery. They’re one of the five largest tire manufacturers in the world.

Goodyear has an excellent lineup of tires with over 100 years of experience in the industry. With a Goodyear tire, you know that you’re getting a long-lasting tire that has excellent ride quality. Consumer Reports notes that Goodyear produces some of the most durable tires out there. The Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady comes highly reviewed as having excellent traction in harsh weather conditions.

If there is any downside to Goodyear’s tires, it is their price point, which can run above average. Check our Deals page for Goodyear coupons and rebates, and view Tire Agent’s Financing page to learn about our easy payment plans.

Michelin undefined

Speaking of instantly recognizable brands, who isn’t familiar with the French tire manufacturer Michelin and its, well, Michelin Man! Michelin’s heritage goes all the way back to 1889, when rubber manufacturer Barbier-Daubrée Company was rebranded as Michelin & Cie. While they started producing bicycle and carriage tires, they eventually transitioned to manufacturing automobile tires on a global scale. Today, they’re still known as one of the best tire manufacturers in the industry that continues to develop and innovate.

Automobile review site CarTalk has awarded Michelin as the best tire brand and best all-season tire. This is because their tires stand out from the competition. The CrossClimate2 offers not only a uniquely innovative design but also an effective performance in difficult weather. Michelin has highly rated tires across the board: all-season, performance, and all-terrain tires.

Similar to Goodyear, the biggest downside of Michelin can be the cost. Michelin’s tires may run higher than average, but with above-average quality comes above-average cost. So we recommend taking advantage of Tire Agent’s payment plans to ease the strain of purchasing a new set of tires.

Cooper

Cooper Tire & Rubber Company’s #1 strength is excellent value for great tires. On average, their tires will have a far lower cost than some of the other brands we’ve mentioned. Cooper is an American Brand founded in 1914 selling patch and repair kits. They shifted to selling replacement tires when they noticed there was a market need for a more affordable option. Cooper stays affordable by maintaining its status as an independent tire maker. This means it’s not sold in Cooper stores or a store branded with a different tire manufacturer’s name.

Cooper produces excellent value performance, all-season, and all-terrain tires. They hold an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau and have a notable commitment to safety. The Cooper Discoverer SRX LE is an excellent choice for passenger cars, thanks to its 50,000-mile warranty and fuel-efficient rating. Cooper also offers affordable all-terrain and even mud tires such as the Discoverer AT3 4S.

If there is any downside of Cooper Tire, is could be that they don’t have quite as many tire options as some of the other brands that we’ve listed.

Continental

German tire manufacturer Continental is the oldest brand on our list. Founded in 1871, they have over 150 years of experience in the rubber industry producing tires not only for passenger vehicles but also for commercial trucks and industrial equipment. They’re an original equipment manufacturer, or OEM, of many German automobile brands including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen. Continental is also known for offering an excellent warranty.

If you’re looking for cutting-edge engineering in a tire, Continental’s innovations will be a pleasant surprise. For one of the best all-season tires out there, the Continental ProContact TX is an excellent choice that won’t sacrifice road comfort for grip in wet conditions. If you’re looking for something that can handle more rugged conditions, their TerrainContact A/T can handle off-road conditions but stay surprisingly effective and quiet while on the pavement.

Continental, like many high-quality brands, tends to run a bit higher priced when compared to the alternatives.

Pirelli

Known mainly as a tire brand that caters to luxury vehicles, as well as the title sponsor of Formula 1 racing, Pirelli has built a high-quality reputation over more than 150 years in the rubber industry. They’re known for their run-flat and “seal inside” technologies, as well as innovations in rubber manufacturing. The Pirelli catalog contains five model families: Carrier, Cinturato, Ice, P Zero, Scorpion and Winter Sottozero.

Pirelli is more than a luxury tire brand, which some may be surprised to learn. They offer some aggressive all-terrain and off-road tires, which we cover more in a post called “5 Facts You Didn’t Know About Pirelli Tires.”

As with a lot of tire 1 brands of tires, the biggest downside of Pirelli is its price tag. That said, you get what you pay for: Quality tire with longer than average expected tread life and excellent performance.
